Supercapacitors

Supercapacitors are high capacity energy storage devices. The storage mechanism for the supercapacitors is primarily physically in the form of electrons stored on the surface of the activated carbon and rapidly charged / discharged.

Since the amount of charge is related to the number of electrons that can be stored on the surface, activated carbon is the industry standard with a high surface area.
